NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has declared the commercial operation of 50.4 MW of the Jamjodhpur Wind Energy Project in Gujarat, marking another step in the expansion of NTPC Group’s renewable energy portfolio.

The first part of the project’s capacity of 50.4 MW (16 WTG) was declared commercially operational with effect from 00:00 hours on September 22, 2026. The capacity forms part of the 1,050 MW wind component associated with NTPC Renewable Energy Limited’s 500 MW Round-the-Clock (RTC) project under REMCL.

Jamjodhpur Wind Project : Key Details

The project is located in Jamjodhpur and Lalpur talukas of Jamnagar district, Gujarat. It uses wind turbine generators (WTGs) supplied by Suzlon, with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW per turbine.

The project’s transmission infrastructure is connected through the Jam Khambhaliya Pooling Station, which serves as the CTU substation for the project’s power evacuation arrangements.

With individual turbine ratings of 3.15 MW, the project uses high-capacity wind turbines to support renewable electricity generation. The newly commissioned 50.4 MW represents the first part of the larger wind component, with further capacity expected to be commissioned in phases, subject to project progress and official declarations.

NTPC Green Energy Group Capacity Update

Following the capacity update, NTPC Green Energy Limited stated that its group’s commercial capacity stood at 11,262.51 MW. The group’s total installed capacity increased to 11,328.69 MW.

At the broader group level, NTPC’s total installed capacity stood at 91,572 MW, while its commercial capacity reached 90,492 MW.

These figures highlight the scale of NTPC Group’s power generation portfolio, which includes conventional and renewable energy assets. The addition of wind capacity supports the group’s ongoing expansion of renewable generation and diversification of its energy mix.

Wind Energy Expansion in Gujarat

Gujarat remains an important location for wind energy development, supported by its wind resources and renewable energy infrastructure. Projects in the state contribute to the expansion of India’s non-fossil-fuel electricity generation capacity.

The Jamjodhpur project combines Suzlon wind turbines with grid connectivity through the Jam Khambhaliya Pooling Station. Its phased commissioning approach enables individual portions of the overall project capacity to enter commercial operation as they are completed and declared operational.

The commissioning of the first 50.4 MW marks a milestone in the development of the project’s larger wind component. Further commissioning updates will determine the pace at which the remaining capacity is brought into commercial operation.
