KP Group Unveils Vision 2032: Targets 10 GW IPP, 10 GW EPC and 10 GWh Battery Manufacturing

KP Group has unveiled its Vision 2032 roadmap targeting 10 GW IPP, 10 GW EPC, and 10 GWh battery manufacturing capacity.

  • Current Renewable Portfolio – 9.2+ GW
  • Owned IPP Target – 10 GW by FY2032
  • Third-party EPC Target – 10 GW
  • BESS & Cell Manufacturing – 10 GWh
  • Sun Drops Energia Campus – 110 acres
  • Pilot + R&D Line – 30 MWh, 2027
  • BESS Assembly – 5 GWh, FY2027-28
  • Cell Manufacturing – 5 GWh, FY2028-29
  • Long-term Scale-up – 10 GWh BESS + 10 GWh cells

KP Group, an Indian business conglomerate founded in 1994 and headquartered in Surat, Gujarat, has unveiled its “KP 3.0” Vision 2032, outlining an expansion strategy across renewable energy, EPC, battery storage, cell manufacturing, green hydrogen, energy trading and international clean-energy markets.

Under the new roadmap, the Group has set three major targets for FY2032: 10 GW of owned renewable IPP capacity, 10 GW of third-party renewable EPC execution and 10 GWh of BESS and battery-cell manufacturing capacity.

The strategy is aimed at transforming KP Group from a renewable energy developer and EPC player into an integrated clean-energy platform spanning power generation, project execution, energy storage and emerging energy technologies.

10 GW IPP and 10 GW EPC Targets

The first pillar of KP 3.0 is the expansion of KPI Green Energy’s owned renewable IPP portfolio to 10 GW by FY2032. KP Group currently has a renewable portfolio of more than 9.2 GW, comprising projects across various stages of development and execution.

Alongside its own generation assets, the Group plans to execute 10 GW of third-party renewable projects through its EPC business by FY2032. This will allow the Group to simultaneously expand its asset ownership and project-execution businesses.

Sun Drops Energia to Develop Battery Manufacturing Campus

Energy storage is a key component of the new strategy. Through Sun Drops Energia, KP Group plans to develop an integrated BESS assembly and battery-cell manufacturing campus spread across approximately 110 acres.

The initial stage includes a 30 MWh pilot line and R&D centre, targeted for 2027. The facility will support technology development, product qualification and supplier selection before commercial-scale production.

The first commercial BESS assembly line is planned to begin production in FY2027-28, with an initial capacity of 5 GWh. The facility is designed for up to 1,000 containers per year, with throughput planned to increase from 12 to 24 ppm in two stages.

A 5 GWh battery-cell manufacturing line is targeted to commence production in FY2028-29. The planned facility will have a capacity of around 5 million cells annually, operating across three shifts and 350 days a year, with 314 Ah and 576 Ah cell formats.

The next expansion phase, planned from April 2031, aims to scale the campus to 10 GWh of BESS manufacturing and 10 GWh of cell manufacturing capacity.

Wind Acquisition and New Energy Businesses

As part of its IPP expansion, KPI Green Energy has entered into a binding arrangement to acquire 507.9 MW of operational wind assets associated with Saudi Arabia’s Alfanar Group for an enterprise value of approximately ₹2,410 crore.

KP Group is also expanding into emerging clean-energy segments. Its projects include a 110 MW AC/142 MW DC floating solar project at Kadana Dam in Gujarat and a 1 MW green hydrogen plant at Matar, capable of producing around 432 kg of hydrogen per day.

The Group has also obtained approvals for energy trading and is exploring opportunities in Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania and Saudi Arabia. In Botswana, it has identified a potential 5 GW renewable-energy opportunity, with an initial phase of around 500 MW.
