Vikram Solar has strengthened its position in India’s domestic solar manufacturing market by entering into a 1 GW domestic solar cell supply agreement with Avaada Electro Limited. The agreement will support Vikram Solar’s module manufacturing operations with domestically produced, ALMM-compliant N-Type G12R TOPCon solar cells.

Under the agreement, Avaada Electro will supply 1 GW of half-cut N-Type G12R TOPCon solar cells to Vikram Solar. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in September 2026, providing the module manufacturer with additional domestic cell supply for its production requirements.

The agreement has an approximate value of ₹1,250 crore, making it a significant procurement arrangement within India’s rapidly developing solar manufacturing ecosystem.

Focus on India’s DCR Solar Market

The agreement is expected to support Vikram Solar’s growing presence in the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) segment. Domestic cell availability is becoming increasingly important as India’s solar industry expands its local manufacturing ecosystem and demand for domestically produced photovoltaic components increases.

By securing supply from Avaada Electro, Vikram Solar is strengthening its access to domestic, ALMM-compliant solar cells while improving supply-chain continuity for its module manufacturing operations.

N-Type G12R TOPCon Technology

The agreement covers N-Type G12R TOPCon solar cells, a high-efficiency technology increasingly being adopted in next-generation solar modules.

The partnership also complements Vikram Solar’s broader backward-integration strategy. The company is developing a planned 9 GW high-efficiency solar cell manufacturing facility, which is scheduled for commissioning in Q4 FY27.

The planned facility is expected to further strengthen Vikram Solar’s in-house cell manufacturing capabilities. For Avaada Electro, the agreement adds a major 1 GW supply commitment to its expanding domestic solar manufacturing business.

Overall, the Vikram Solar-Avaada Electro agreement highlights the growing importance of domestic solar cell manufacturing, ALMM compliance, TOPCon technology and DCR-focused supply chains in India’s rapidly expanding solar industry.
