ACME Solar Holdings Limited has signed a Power Procurement Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) for a 300 MW / 1,200 MWh Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project at a tariff of ₹6 per unit. The agreement was signed through its subsidiary, ACME Greentech Twenty Private Limited, under SECI’s FDRE-IX tranche and became effective on October 6, 2026.
The project is designed to supply renewable electricity during peak-demand periods, particularly evening and night-time hours, by combining solar power generation with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technology.
Solar and Battery Storage to Support Peak Power Supply
Under the agreement, ACME Solar will supply 4 MWh of electricity per MW of contracted capacity for any four hours daily during non-solar hours. The company must maintain a minimum monthly availability of 90%, in accordance with the project’s contractual requirements.
To meet these obligations, the project will integrate solar generation with battery storage. The BESS component will support the delivery of electricity during periods when solar generation is unavailable, helping the company meet its scheduled peak-power supply commitments.
ACME Solar also plans to utilise existing night-time grid connectivity for the project. The company has not specified the project location, solar generation capacity or detailed battery configuration in its announcement.
The ₹6-per-unit tariff establishes the contracted price for electricity supplied under the agreement. The arrangement reflects the growing role of storage-backed renewable energy in meeting demand when conventional solar generation is limited.
ACME Solar’s Contracted Portfolio Reaches 8,370 MW
Following the signing of the PPA, ACME Solar reported that its under-construction contracted portfolio with signed PPAs stands at 4,310 MW, out of a total under-construction contracted capacity of 5,380 MW.
According to the company, its overall contracted portfolio stands at 8,370 MW across solar, wind, hybrid, BESS and FDRE projects. Its operational portfolio includes approximately 3,123 MW of generation capacity and 4.96 GWh of battery energy storage capacity.
ACME Solar also operates in-house engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and operations and maintenance (O&M) divisions, supporting project development and plant operations.
Strengthening India’s Dispatchable Renewable Energy Capacity
The agreement highlights the importance of integrating energy storage with renewable generation to improve the availability of clean electricity during peak-demand periods. By combining solar power and BESS, the project is designed to deliver scheduled electricity beyond daylight hours.
For India’s renewable energy sector, such projects represent an important step towards making renewable electricity more flexible and dependable as the share of solar and wind power increases in the electricity mix.
The agreement adds another storage-backed renewable energy project to ACME Solar’s portfolio while supporting SECI’s procurement of dispatchable clean power.
